Letter From Chapter President

Here's to you and here's to summer...it's official, summer has arrived as we enjoy the daylight until nine o'clock at night, grilling, and of course longer days of fishing. I hope everyone has been taking advantage of all that summer brings whether starting your vacations, or weekends with family and friends.

Our next chapter meeting is Thursday July 27th, 2017 at 6P.M. at one of my favorite spots, River John's. I believe this is our fifth year meeting with the members of Little River TU chapter "on the water" at River John's. Bring a covered dish or dessert to share as burgers and dogs will be provided. Don't forget your fishing gear and license as popping for smallies is just literally feet away. Ernie Frey, president of the Little River chapter says there may be some surprise events before and after dinner to enjoy, or just come with your family as we gather at the river! The biggest chapter news of the summer is our partnering with Sugarlands Distilling Company of Gatlinburg and being part of the Sugarlands MountainFest, September 28th-October 1st, 2017 in downtown Gatlinburg, TN. We have been given the chance to sponsor the most unique fishing tournament ever held in Gatlinburg. Save the date of Saturday, September 30, 2017 as we hold not one but three tournaments, from the "One Fly Royale", the Spin "R" Fly, and the Junior Anglers competition. We are gearing up now as we add sponsors and donors to this one of a kind day on the water.

The "Battle of Gatlinburg Tournament" is the premiere fishing event this fall. The most important part of the day...you... the TU chapter member or non-member! We need many volunteers for all types of tournament related activities. Please see the article below and sign up to lend a hand, your help will be greatly appreciated.

As some of you have already seen on our chapter Facebook page, our UT "VOLS on the FLY" and Great Smoky chapter members Brett Winchell and Matt Crockett are on a remarkable ten week adventure across the United States with three other 5 Rivers members from other states. Speaking of volunteer work, join in as the Clinch River TU chapter heads up the Big Cleanup Saturday July 22nd on the Clinch River. this is the fifth year of this all volunteer event and one to mark down on your calendar. help a great cause and have fun at the same time.
