SATURDAY- APRIL 30TH 9AM-METCALF BOTTOMS-Great Smoky Mountain Park-LITTLE RIVER CLEAN-UP

Don’t miss out on a fun time and the chance to help out the Park and our fellow TU chapter Little River. Some of our GSM chapter members have been helping out with this event including myself each year. The usual schedule is meeting at 9AM in the Park at MetCalf  Bottoms off Little River Rd. The MetCalf picnic area is on the left about 8 miles up from the Wye at the Townsend Park entrance headed towards Gatlinburg. We have a burger and dog cookout about noon and many members will go fishing from there in the afternoon. We work that day picking up trash along the road and river bank with safety vests, gloves, and grabbers to handle the trash with provided by the Park service. Here's the invite from the Little River TU chapter: "The annual Little River Cleanup is scheduled for Saturday, April 30. This is a great opportunity to give back by spending a couple of hours in the Park we love. And we provide lunch as well, a win-win situation! So mark your calendar for Saturday, April 30 starting at 9:00am. We’ll provide more information as we get closer to the date."

Let me know if interested in helping out again or for the first time, this is a family friendly event and everyone is welcome. It is a chance for your relatives, children and grandchildren to see the work that TU does in conjunction with the Park service and maybe even get their picture with a ranger.
