CHAPTER NEWS

Letter From Chapter President

Summer is on and vacation time is here for many of our members and their families! I hope everyone is getting a chance to hit some water, and to encourage that our May meeting was held jointly with the Clinch chapter at Millers Island. On a sunny day that felt like July we had a great day of grillin 'n' chillin under the tents and capped it off with hot dogs and fixins and some fishin mixed in. We had members from all three chapters and was a good start to multi- chapter meetings.

In fact, our next meeting is going to be on Thursday, July 23rd at 6PM with the Little River TU chapter as host at River John's on 4134 Cave Mill Rd. Maryville, TN 37804. If you have never been there you are in for a treat, a real island in the middle of the Little River, reached by driving if low water even in a car on a concrete runway or by foot bridge. The last couple of years we have held this event  and this year the Little river TU chapter has invited our chapter to be a part of the event. We will have a couple of events that start earlier in the day, the first being a canoe/kayak fishing float trip with Dave Ezell of their chapter. Dave lives right by the river and knows it well, usually that starts around 12 or 1PM (more details as we get closer), and ends right at the island to join everyone for grillin burgers & dogs and tall tales of the day. The second event is a casting class whether a veteran or beginner join us for some fine tuning tips or helping the less experienced out. If you do not have a canoe or kayak, not to worry River John's rents with advance notice, a link to his website will follow in a separate article. In other words, there is going to be something for everyone that day, so come out and join the two chapters for a big day of fun. Come out for the float or after work for the fishin and grillin, only 15 minutes from the airport you will feel like you have escaped to a secret hideaway right here at home!
