Letter From Chapter President-NOVEMBER 2015

Let's start off by saying October has been one of our busiest months to date. We have had everything from chapter elections to chapter meetings and fundraisers this month. I then started putting my outline together for this November report and quickly realized this month is packed with activities also. A nice problem to have as we race towards winter and the holidays!

I am honored to say that at the last chapter meeting on October 22, 2015 I was re-elected to serve another year as chapter president and I truly thank you!  In addition, your new chapter vice-president is Michael Bachman. he has been a long serving member of the Great Smoky Mountain chapter and held officer positions before with the chapter. George Lane was also elected to continue serving as chapter treasurer, he also serves as the treasurer on our Tennessee State TU Council. He brings a wealth of experience and knowledge of where we have been as a chapter and where we want to grow as a chapter.

It has been an exciting time for me and a privilege to work with our members and the National TU staff this past year. Our continued revitalization of this chapter has been hard but we have made great progress through the help of you the members! The biggest thrill for me is when we now spread the word asking for help with a chapter related event, you respond with "How can I help". That is a huge deal for a chapter that many had thought just a year ago was on life support.

We are gearing up for the second GSM chapter hot dog fund raiser at Bass Pro on Saturday, November 7th. Our first one in October was a success and we are going back at the invitation of the great folks at Bass Pro to do it again! We need your help; please join us if just for a couple of hours on Saturday, November 7th; many hands make light work! This event is for funding our chapter's budget and the money we earn that day stays in our chapter to continue our chapter's work.

We have additional exciting news about a new relationship with a new fly fishing group at UT-Knoxville below and the unveiling of our new logo, the Clinch River TU Swap meet, and a new fly tying company Healing Waters Fly Co. Please help us continue the momentum we have gained this past year and be a part of what we are planning for 2016!
