Letter From Chapter President

Yippee......Am I happy summer is about over? No...but I am excited to know an end to 94 degree days are not far away!

I have always been a "child of summer" and always will be, but I welcome with open arms 70 degree days and 50 degree nights that are on the horizon. A Great Smoky Mountains fall day chasing brookies on a small rushing stream is the perfect medicine for any ill you may have. It is a perk for those of us who live here just minutes away from the Smokies and a bucket list trip for those who travel here. Count your blessings and make as many trips as you can this year!

Speaking of fall, it is time for the Great Smoky Mountain Trout Unlimited 3rd annual "BATTLE OF GATLINBURG 2019". Fast becoming an anticipated fall classic itself, it is one of America's most unique fly fishing catch and release tournament. Taking place in Gatlinburg TN on Saturday September 28th there is nothing like it. Centered in the heart of downtown Gatlinburg it is a three hour fast paced shootout where one fly determines the winners.

See the article below for all the details on signing up as a competitor or volunteer stream judge. Your help is needed as stream judges and requirements are easy. If you can read a tape measure while the angler holds the trout your are qualified....it is that simple. if you have a friend or family member that wants to help no TU membership is required. Come on out and be a part of this great event. P.S. there is no UT football game anywhere that weekend!
