LETTER FROM PRESIDENT

At last it is just around the corner...Fall is on the way! Cooler temperatures and fishing here in our Great Smoky mountains and tailwaters as the leaves fall on crisp mornings are just weeks away. It is a blessing of four distinct seasons that we are given here in the mountains, each bringing it's own special gifts. I am grateful for them all and try never to take them for granted. Here's hoping everyone got their summer vacations in as we gear back up for fall activities. Our first event is the September chapter meeting on Thursday September 20th, 2018 at 6PM and will be our "Welcome Back To Fall" meeting being hosted by 3 Rivers Angler, located at 5113 Kingston Pike in Knoxville TN. If you ever wanted to take better photos of your fish or outdoor trips join us for a presentation by John Smolko, professional guide and photographer just returning from Alaska. Come hungry as we will be serving free pizza and beverages (beer/soft drinks). We look forward to seeing everyone and thanks to our meeting hosts 3 Rivers Anglers. The "BATTLE OF GATLINBURG 2018" takes place on Saturday September 22, 2018 in downtown Gatlinburg TN. The "One Fly Royale" presents one of the most unique fly fishing tournaments around. Anglers will compete for cash and prizes in a fast paced three hour event right in the center of Gatlinburg. We have also been invited back by Little River Outfitters to Fly Tyers Weekend again this year to provide a booth featuring the Great Smoky Mountain TU chapter. This event being held on Saturday and Sunday October 27th-28th 2018 features over 40 fly tiers demonstrating their skills at the Little River Outfitters shop under the big tent. Your help is needed to staff the booth. The job is simple just talk to people about Great Smoky Mountain TU and fishing which we do already! Check out the article below for all the details.
