MEETING WRAP UP & AGENDA

Meeting Wrap-up & Updates

Thanks to everyone who came out on March 19 to the meeting at Calhouns, we filled the room and had a great evening of food and fellowship. I think everyone would agree that David Knapp's presentation on Rocky Mountain fly  fishing was first rate and he knows the ins & outs on where to go and fish out there. If you are thinking about floating the Caney or getting in some time on the Great Smoky National park streams, David is your man and can put you on the fish! Here is a link to his webpage, give him a shout and plan your next trip today. http://www.troutzoneanglers.com/

One idea I proposed was instead of our usual chapter meeting in April we have an outdoor meeting with a day or afternoon of fishing and grilling dogs or burgers. I would like feedback from our members, with Spring on our doorstep I hink maybe it would be good idea to shake off the dust on the fishing equipment and get outdoors. If you have not been to Millers Island on the Clinch river recently that area has been upgraded and landscaped with easier access for waders, kayaks, and motorized boats. I am looking at a possible date of  Saturday April 25, if someone has another location they would like to propose please feel free to add, for those interested shoot me an email and let's fine tune it.

We have also received a request from the folks at Casting for Recovery for a donation of flies for their upcoming retreat in April. This group does great work and I have posted their mission statement below, this event is held each year and open to women in Tennessee. They are asking if any individual can donate 18 flies per person to be used in the Smokies for that weekend, whether you tie them or buy them it will be appreciated. If interested in donating shoot me an email or they can be dropped at Orvis in Seiverville with Dave Carson.

"CfR retreats focus on improving quality of life for women with breast cancer through the therapeutic sport of fly fishing."

There are a lot of things coming up in our area and I have added them below, please get out and participate in as many as you can and help where you can! The greatest return on my time with Trout Unlimited is the number of quality people I meet and have become friends with, get involved!
