SATURDAY-JULY 25TH ANNUAL CLINCH RIVER CLEAN-UP

SATURDAY JULY 25TH-ANNUAL CLINCH RIVER CLEAN-UP

Everyone, this is one of the biggest projects in our area each year, I have been working this one for the last few years also and it just keeps getting bigger. A multi-volunteer group from organizations across our area join together to make light work of a big project. If you go to the link below we start the morning with a breakfast at the Museum Of Appalachia, followed by a day of strategy meeting. Some walk the bank or road to pick up litter, others man the boat flotialla for tires and trash, gloves, trash grabbers are provided along with water and usually power bars. this can be dirty work so don't wear country club clothes, but if you truly want to return to the river this is your shot! See details below:

* Saturday, July 25: The first 125 volunteers to sign up for the third annual Big Clinch River Cleanup can enjoy a big free breakfast at Museum of Appalachia, 2819 Andersonville Highway in Norris.

Everyone who enjoys the river, from anglers to kayakers to wildlife watchers, is invited to help remove litter.

Very important: Volunteers are asked to register in advance, so we’ll be sure to have enough breakfast and so we can pre-plan our attack on debris. Online registration is available now by clicking here http://crctu.org/big-cleanup-registration/ (but be forewarned, there’s a technical glitch preventing registrations from the Safari web browser—please use another browser such as Firefox to sign up until we’re able to resolve the issue). To download Firefox (it’s free), click here.

If you have questions, contact Buzz Buffington at buzz.buffington@gmail.com or (865) 463-7167, or Jim Ferguson at jimferguson41@gmail.com or (865) 494-8081.

In case of light rain, both the breakfast and the cleanup will be held; in case of thunder and lightning, the breakfast will be served—and we’ll go home to wait for next year!
