SATURDAY SEPTEMBER 26-WOMEN ON THE WATER

If you can't make the campout  this is a perfect event to help the Clinch River chapter with, I have worked in the past as a guide helping take women in the water after they have their casting instruction on land. Do not worry there are other jobs Melissa will need help with if you feel uncomfortable teaching. Give her a call and see what you can do to help with this program, tell her John sent you. It is a fun day for all!

Women on the Water, a free special event for women who want to learn fly fishing, will be Saturday, Sept. 26, sponsored by the Clinch River Chapter. (Limited space, pre-registration required.)

Women watch intently as Dan Moneymaker shows them how to tie a trout fly during the inaugural Women on the Water event in 2014 . (FH Oates photo)The women’s event will coincide with TVA’s National Public Lands Day celebration at Miller Island Public Access Area on the Clinch, off River Road near the intersection with Highway 441, Norris.

Starting at 9:30 a.m., women will receive instruction in fly casting, knot tying, entomology, fly tying and water safety; after lunch, from noon to 3 p.m., participants will wade the river and fish with volunteer guides.

It’s all free for the women participants; fishing equipment is being provided for women who don’t have their own.

Last year’s Women on the Water event was greeted with such enthusiasm that it was quickly filled—women interested in attending shouldn’t postpone registration! To sign up, contact Melissa Maples-Harrell at: tleo2008@live.com or (865) 804-5491.
